PETALING JAYA: Civil servants are requesting for a salary advance as well as an extra day of holiday for Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
Cuepacs president Omar Osman sent a letter to Chief Secretary Tan Sri Mohd Sidek Hassan yesterday asking for the salaries of civil servants to be paid on Sept 20 so that they would have money for the Hari Raya celebrations.
“Many civil servants return to their hometowns early and need the advance to shop and prepare for the festival,” he said.
He also requested that civil servants be given Oct 3 off so that they can enjoy a longer break.
“The first two days of Hari Raya are public holidays and fall on Oct 1 and 2, which is a Wednesday and Thursday. Oct 3 is a working day, followed by the weekend,” he said.
