KOTA BAHARU, Nov 11 (Bernama) -- The state Education Department said Tuesday it had acted in accordance with the regulation in discontinuing the services of 113 part-time employees whose contract had expired.As such, its director Mohd Ghazali Ab Rahman said, the issue of the department ill-treating the workers did not arise as it had fulfilled its obligation under the contract."They are aware of the provision in the contract and they have signed it."The department has privatised the services such as security, gardening and building cleaning," he told Bernama when contacted.Yesterday, Cuepacs claimed that the employees had lost their jobs when the department discontinued their services recently.Kelantan Cuepacs chairman, Samsudin Mohd Noor said these employees whose income was RM28.50 a day, had to find alternative jobs to survive.-- BERNAMA
