KUCHING, Jan 12 – The Sarawak branch of the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) has asked employers not to cut the wages of workers who did not show up for work because of the floods that have inundated several low-lying areas in the state.
Cuepacs Sarawak chairman, William Ghani Bina, also advised employers not to force flood victims to take leave.
"I have received many calls from flood victims who were worried that their wages would be deducted for not working due to the floods here.
"Employers cannot act rashly by cutting wages or forcing them to take leave. The workers want to come to work but cannot because of floods cutting of access to their workplace or their homes being," he said here today. – Bernama
