CUEPACS BACKS MUHYIDDIN CALLING ANWAR TRAITOR

KUALA LUMPUR, Aug 12 (Bernama) -- The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) Wednesday conveyed their support to Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who labelled Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) advisor Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim a traitor to the Malays.The support was expressed by Cuepacs Secretary-General Ahmad Shah Mohd Zin in a letter to Muhyiddin today, a copy of which was faxed to the media."On behalf of the congress and the unions affiliated to Cuepacs, we fully support and stand behind YAB Tan Sri in the issue of PKR advisor YB Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, who is described as a traitor to the Malay race, " he said in the letter."Cuepacs prays that Tan Sri is given strength to continue defending the dignity and status of Malays in this beloved country. We bid you congratulations," he said.Muhyiddin, when launching the Sri Gading Umno division delegates' meeting in Batu Pahat recently, had called Anwar a traitor to the struggle of the Malays.Following the statement, Anwar, through his lawyer reportedly sent a notice of demand to Muhyiddin asking him to apologise for the statement or face a RM100 million lawsuit.-- BERNAMA
