KUALA LUMPUR, Oct 23 (Bernama) -- Cuepacs president Omar Osman called on civil servants to continue to improve their performance and productivity although no bonus announcement was made when the 2010 Budget was tabled Friday. He said civil servants should not place to much hopes on bonuses as an indicator of performance to the point their work becomes affected and instead view positively the many facilties and benefits the government provides them."Obviously, we as government employees are not satisfied with the Budget this time but the bonus in not a measure of our performance."It (bonus) is not what we (Cuepacs) are chasing for, what is more important is the overall welfare of civil servants," he said when contacted by Bernama. On the special payment of RM500 for civil servants from Grade 41 till Grade 54 and those on mandatory retirement, Osman said Cuepacs hoped the amount could be reviewed upwards.Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak when tabling the budget announced that the payment would be made in December and that it required an additional allocation of RM400 jmillion.-- BERNAMA
