KUCHING: The Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Service (Cuepacs) is a catalyst for the country’s development, said its deputy president Aziz Muda.
Speaking at ‘Cuepacs Sarawak Division Leadership Seminar’ here yesterday, Aziz said Cuepacs was an important component to bring economic growth to the country.
“The organisation must make sure the government’s policies and plans are carried out effectively because it could reflect the image of the government,” he said, pointing out that the government’s vision and objectives could be achieved through the new policies and transformation programme carried out by Cuepacs.
While reminding his audience to provide good service when carrying out their tasks as the people always expect the best from them, he called on the government not to consider them as enemies.
Although they seemed to be demanding, they were in fact cooperative and willing to negotiate and look for proper ways to solve problems, he said, adding that they looked up to heads of government departments as role models.
In his speech at the opening ceremony of the seminar, acting deputy state secretary Datuk Misnu Taha said the seminar was important to train the staff in self-improvement.
He told them to continually improve themselves and be aware of the government’s new policies in order to carry out their jobs productively.
“The most important thing is, you must be sincere. Never expect any return. Be sincere in what you are doing, only then you can do it well,” Misnu stressed.
He urged them to work hard and be part of the government’s effort to improve the living standard of the people.
Also present was Cuepacs Sarawak Division president Cecilia Yong.
