KUALA LUMPUR, April 9 (Bernama) -- The
Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services
(Cuepacs) today declared its stance to continue to support the
leadership of Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak.
Its president, Datuk Azih Muda, said Cuepacs had full faith in Najib leading the country towards betterment.
"During his leadership, the prime minister has brought many changes
and transformations, especially to improve the quality and standard of
living of civil servants.
"The Prime Minister is concerned about the rise in wages and the
upgrading of public services, Cuepacs believes he is on the right
track," Azih told reporters here.
Azih also stressed that the stance taken by Cuepacs is the stand and support of all civil servants.
Touching on the Goods and Services Tax (GST) he said the government
should improve monitoring the implementation with stricter enforcement
authorities to ensure the welfare of the poor and middle income groups.
"The GST implementation earlier has assured that the price of goods
will be lowered, but what is happening now is contrary to what was said.
"The situation, is a burden and a source of financial problem to
nearly 1.6 million of our members because there are quarters taking
advantage of the implementation of the GST," he said.
