RACISM is not a major problem within the civil service, said Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) president Omar Osman.
“There’s no major racism practice going on in civil service,” Omar told The Malay Mail.
“All these incidents we hear of are isolated cases. It doesn’t mean the whole civil service is racist. It’s irresponsible of the Penang CM to blame the DPM for everything.
"If a civil servant had uttered a racist remark, then the civil servant and his direct superior are answerable for it. Don’t just blame the minister.
“We civil servants work as a team in helping the government progress.
"We are committed to the Prime Minister’s 1Malaysia concept, which speaks of tolerance and national unity.
“For me, blaming the civil service of practising racism is out of the question.”
