KUALA LUMPUR: More affordable homes for middle-income civil servants should be built in the next five years, said the Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services.Cuepacs president Azih Muda said the movement hoped that the request would be included in Budget 2015.The Budget is to be tabled in the next few months.
Azih said building such homes was one of the matters raised at a brief meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin who attended an Aidilfitri celebration organised by Cuepacs here yesterday. He said Cuepacs also hoped that the Government would hold more briefing sessions on the Goods and Services Tax at the grassroots level.
“Many are still unclear on the GST,” he said.
“People are generally worried about the rise in costs when it is implemented,” said Azih.
“So, the government needs to assure the people that the price of basic goods will not increase and will be exempted.”
