THE Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) wants the government to change the designation of 'Supporting Group II' civil servant to that of implementing officer.
Its national president Omas Osman said the designation was appropriate, adding: “We don't want those civil servants Grade 40 and below or those who possess a diploma and below to be called the supporting group.
“The Prime Minister has been briefed about this and he has agreed to bring the matter up to the Cabinet for endorsement,” he told reporters after the launching of the Civil Defence Ministry Employees' Union (Kesatria) Workers' Day celebration in Kuching yesterday.
He said a change in their designation would also enable the civil servants concerned to benefit more in terms of salary adjustments.
On another note, Omar said the salary increment would be the top agenda in the Cuepacs national congress council meeting in Sarawak next month.
“We will discuss in detail on salary increment like how many per cent should it be and what we expect in 10 years time. We have prepared our memorandum and it's just a matter of getting it endorsed by the congress,” he said.
