THE Congress of Unions of Employees in the Public and Civil Services (Cuepacs) assures that civil servants will continue to maintain work productivity despite 750,000 people having to work from home (WFH) under the tightened third Movement Control Order (MCO 3.0+).
Its president Adnan Mat (picture) said this is especially in matters involving direct services to the people.
He said the government service delivery system will continue to run as usual to ensure that the people are served in accordance with the stipulations set by each government agency.
“Essential services for the people will continue to run as usual in accordance with the current standard operating procedures.
“The public must not worry that their affairs could get disrupted following the latest directive because no government department has ever stopped carrying out their respective services,” he said in a statement yesterday.
The implementation of MCO 3.0+ will see 80% civil servants or 750,000 people working from home.
Similarly, 40% of the private sector workforce is also required to observe the WFH rule.
Adnan added that the implementation of WFH for civil servants is based on the Service Circular No 5/2020: Work from Home policy which clearly details the aspects that every civil servant must comply with.
After more than a year of various MCOs, Cuepacs is confident that civil servants are well-equipped to perform their respective responsibilities while practising WFH.
“As civil servants are the backbone in the administration of the country, they must show the best example in complying with the policies directed by the government.
“At the same time, Cuepacs hopes that civil servants comply with the rest of MCO directives and current regulations related to WFH,” he added.
According to Adnan, any misconduct in regards with the WFH rule will be subject to disciplinary action in accordance with current public service rules.
“Civil servants cannot compromise their productivity during WFH because we are the backbone to the administration of the country,” he concluded.
