PETALING JAYA: Cuepacs wants the Government to improve some of the incentives for civil servants.
“We feel the economy has improved enough for the Government to increase allocations for civil servants,” said its president Omar Osman, in response to the pay and allowance raise for 98,747 police personnel.
He said Cuepacs lauded the pay raise for the police, which showed that the economy had improved.
Cuepacs also wants housing allowance across the board to be increased from RM180 to RM300, and the cost of living allowance (Cola) to be a uniform RM300 for all civil servants.
Currently, Cola is set at RM300 for government staff in urban areas, RM200 for suburban and RM100 for rural areas.
Omar also said the pay for civil servants in Sabah and Sarawak should be increased by 10%.
Late last year, the Government turn down Cuepacs’ request for a two-month bonus for its 1.2 million members.
Omar said Cuepacs would reach a resolution in its special congress in Kuala Lumpur on Feb 24-25.
“We will submit the official decision to the Prime Minister’s office and the Finance Ministry,” he added.
Earlier this week, Home Minister Datuk Seri Hishammuddin Tun Hussein announced a new police service scheme, including improved salaries and allowances.
